The Household Budget Survey of 2011-12 is the six round. others are from 1969,1 976/77, 1992, 2001 2007
The 2011/12 HBS is a nationally representative survey, designed to provide estimates at the National level, Dares Salaam, Other Urban Areas and Rural Areas.
The main objective of the survey was to get information from private households on economic activities, household income and expenditure, housing characteristics as well as asset ownership.

- Form I: Demographic information,immigration, education, health, disability, and time use
- Form II: Dwelling, utilities, water, sanitation and household expenditures.
- Form III: Labour status, household businesses and individual income
- Form IV: Data on agriculture, crops and livestock
- Form V: Daily transactions on consumptions and expenditures of the household

Supervision was done at different level
Four main questionnaires were used, together with a diary recording household purchases and consumption over a 28 days period. Each member of household aged 5 and above was also given a dairy to record his/her purchases and consumption. The fieldwork of the Survey was conducted for a year from October 2011 to October 2012.
Data were collected on a wide range of individual and household characteristics, including:

The data user shall acknowledge that any available intellectual property rights, including copyright in the data of version 1.0 of the Household Budget Survey 20122 are owned by the National Bureau, Tanzania
